Using of multipolar gearless synchronous generator with permanent magnets for wind turbines with the vertical axis of rotation has been grounded. A simplified method of calculating of the generator parameters, as well as the refined method based on the description of the electromagnetic field in 3-D formulation have been developed. Two versions of power regulator modes based on: DC-DC converter and an active rectifier, as well as local control system of optimal generator load and minimize energy losses in the channel of transmission were researched and developed. According to the results of theoretical studies the designing and making of patterns were carried out: the multipolar permanent magnet generator, the electric machine unit with computer and microcontroller control to simulate of wind rotor work, and the blocks the automatic control of wind turbine by the DC-DC converter and the active voltage rectifier, for which the program of microcontroller control were developed.
