Methods of the study: hybridization, chemical mutagenesis, variety trial, estimates, selection, genetical and statistical analysis. The material passed through the study at all the stages of breeding process, field and laboratory estimation was conducted. For the purpose of the creation of the forms resistant to smut pathogens an artificial infection of the specimens with five spread smut races in Ukraine was used and after estimation the selection of resistant productive families was carried out. It is a high-yielding cultivar exceeding the standard by 0,25 to 0,40 t/ha, possessing high grain and cereal quality, resistant to unfavourable environmental conditions. Sex varieties of millet belonging to the breeding of Plant Production Institute nd. a. V. Ya. Yuriev, UAAS have been recommended for the cultivation by the State Plant Variety List 3 of these (Konstantynivske, Vitrylo, Yuvileine) have been registered in the Ukrainian Plant Variety List for 2006-2010 years, one variety (Kozatske) is recognized to be promising.
