The object of studies - the peculiar features of inheritance and variability of quantitative, and qualitative traits in sunflower lines and hybrids. The aim of studies-elaboration of theoretical bases of sunflower heterotic selection and creation of new high-yielding hybrids resistant to main diseases with high efficiency of seeds production and maximal use of the potential of natural-climatical factors. The novelty of this work is to elaborate the technology of and to create a new original in essence material of sunflower and sunflower and its practical realization by means of the development of newest lines and improved hybrids. The creation of new hybrids is based on adaptivity that provides lines and hybrids breading with a high of resistance to bio- and abiotic factors of the environment for the definite soil-climatic zones and regions Practical outcomes of the activities: 31 hybrids of sunflower have been created and sent to state Variety Trial, they have high productivity, oil content and improved resistance to unfavorable environmental factors, are distinguished by different duration of vegetative period and various oil fatly-acid composition. 6 hybrids have been registered in the State Plant Variety List of Ukraine, of which 4 have been recognized as promising. 3 hybrids have been enlisted in the State Register of breeding achievements of the Russian Federation, 9 hybrids are being tested in the State Variety Trial. 4 hybrids have been sent to the State Commission for trials of agricultural crops of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Such parental forms of sunflower hybrids have been registered in the State Plant Variety list of Ukraine: 14 sterile material lines, 3 sterile hybrids and 7 lines-restorers of fertility.
