Research objective: to provide long-term preservation of seed samples of the plant genepool in the National Repository. Scope of application: crop production, plant breeding, education. The differences between the gene pool samples by stamina tolerance of seed to storage depending on the species and variety supplies of maize, barley, rye, winter rye, underutilized wheat species, millet and millet crops, pea, chickpea, kidney bean, soya bean, lentil, sunflower, onion, ornamental tree and forest specieses. 53814 accessions belonging to 275 crops, 583 plant specieses are conserved in a state of high viability in the National Depository of Seed Samples of Plant Genepool of Ukraine. Carrying out of the computer database of the National Depository, which includes information about 53,6 thousand samples. 2227 accessions are issued from the National Depository to the breeding, scientific and educational institutions of Ukraine for use in breeding, researches, educational process and reinstatement in active collections. 15620 samples are regenerated for depositing to the National Seed Storage. Techniques for improving seed germination by freezing, the catalogue of plant genetic diversity on the seed traits, the method of cryopreservation of cuttings of fruit and berry crops are developed and patented.
