Aim of the study - to conduct systematization of winter cereal crops' genetic diversity for winter-hardiness, to distinguish highly frost-resistant specimens, to form trait collections and to define varieties-standards. Over the current period we studies the introduced material of NCPGRU (252 varieties of winter bread wheat and 147 varieties of winter triticale), 902 breeding lines of winter bread wheat, 74 samples of winter triticale, 94 samples of winter rye for the resistance to low temperature and other unfavourable factors during winter. Some sources of frost-resistance among the varieties and breeding material are chosen. Winter triticale Valentyn 90, Tsecad 90, Garne are chosen as the sources of frost-resistance among the varieties and breeding material and registered in NCPGRU and considered as samples- standards. Besides a special trait collection of winter triticale for frost-winter-hardiness. Five created lines of winter bread wheat (VAD 91, DIK 48, BIS 60, KAD 37, KUD 54) with a high level of winter-hardiness, high performance and good grain quality are registered in NCPGRU. Winter bread wheats cultivars Gordovyta and Lyutytsia are developed in the co-authorship and sent to the state Variety Test. The patent for a useful model "Technique for chlorophyll content estimation in leaves of winter wheat" is received. SSTU 4749:2007 "Wheat winter. Method of estimation of varieties frost resistance" is developed. The data-base of the trait collection of frost-resistant varieties of winter wheat and varieties-standards of winter-hardiness in winter cereal crops is supplemented.
