Methods of the study: hybridization, chemical mutagenesis, variety trial, estimates, selection, genetical and statistical analysis. In the scientific subdivisions of the institute - the laboratories for maize, millet breeding, barley breeding and genetics, winter rye breeding and genetics, winter triticale breeding, winter wheat breeding and physiology, spring triticale breeding the estimation and selection of the breeding material for economic traits (such as: high performance, produce quality, high starch content, resistance to bio- and abiotic factors, fitness for industrial production of ethanol. A maize hybrid Etyud (FAO 270) for grain and silage purposes, with a potential producing ability - 10,5 - 11,4 t/ha, grain harvesting moisture 21-22%, silos mass yield 52,0 t/ha, dry matter 15,6 t/ha, surtable for ethanol production has been sent to State Variety Trial.
