Aim of the study - to investigate a system of winter rape adaptivity to the conditions of the eastern part of the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine, as well as, to analyze and determine pecuriarities of oil variation in rape seeds. Methods - field, hybridization, selection, winter-hardiness (visual and by calculating survived plants), lodging resistance, cracking resistance, disease resistance; laboratory - a method for erucic acid determination, a method for determination of glucosinolates, mutagenesis. 128 specimens of winter rape were introduced and studied. The study on the fatty-acid accumulation dynamics was conducted. Differences in the root system's formation by erucic and non-erucic varieties were defined. For the period under review 646 self-pollinated lines separated from varieties and mutants have been created. 9 forms with an increased level of erucic acid, 37 forms with higher content of oil in seeds have been identified. 152 hybridic combinations with the use of erucic and non-erucic forms of winter rape have been created. 2 specimens of mutant origin possessing morphological differences and an improved content of oil have been registered. 115,95 thous. hrv have been obtained in accord with the agreements concluded with foreign and national firms.
