Research object: lymphocytes of peripheral blood is 50 radiation-exposed persons and persons of control group. Aim of the study - to define the peculiarities of the expression of genes-regulators of apoptosis and telomere complex and estimate changes the programmed cell death and telomere length in peripheral blood lymphocytes of Chornobyl clean-up workers. Research methods - clinical, immunological, cellular-molecular, statistical, analytical. Results: Changes of cellular immunity and decrease of number of natural killer cells (<250 mSv) can testify the defect of immune supervision. The increase of CD95+ cell fraction is shown and a positive correlation with irradiation dose. In the group of radiation-exposed to low doses a tendency is demonstrated of a decrease of cell numbers at the early stages of apoptosis. A decrease of the relative telomere length iwas shown in both groups of the radiation-exposed and non-irradiated patients with cognitive disorders with no clear dependencies with dose of exposure and age. Changes in gene expression (RQ) included a decline in expression of genes regulating apoptosis: TR53, TR53I3 and FASLG as well as genes - regulators of telomere length - Terf1 and Terf2., and hyperexpression of antiapoptotic genes BAX and CCND1, that are reported to be associated with cellular transformation. For some genes a dependency was shown for RQ and the dose of exposure. Cerebrovascular pathology with a predomination of personality organic disorders and affective deppresive and anxiety changes were more prominent in a group of Chornobyl clean-up workers. Results of the stage of research were reported in 9 publications , 2 presentations at the international conferences.
