Vernadsky University popup.description2 The purpose of the work is making a model of the fiber-optical switch (FOS) configurations of 1х2 on the basis of magnetooptical (MO) Faraday rotator. As МО rotator is used the bismuth-containing epitaxial ferrite-garnet film (EFGF) with the width of 12 mkm and with magnetic anisotropy "an angular phase", grown by a method of liquid-phase epitaxy on the substrate of gadolinium gallium garnet. Magnetic performances of the EFGF were researched with the help of magnetopolarimeter МПМФ-2, chemical composition was researched with the help of power-dispersion spectrometer ЭДС-1 together with the raster-type electronic microscope РЭМ-106. Faraday rotation and optical loss in EFGF were researched on the wavelength of 1310 nm at the extending of light in the film plane at its magnetization in a plane along the direction of light and in opposite direction. Optical loss was measured by substitution method. Model FOS represents optical circuit, which is made of sequentially connected with each other input optic fiber of the type of "Panda", МО rotator and polarization-selective fiber-optical coupler. Distinctivenesses of a FOS are the type of magnetic anisotropy of a film and its planar orientation in optical circuit where single-mode optical fibers are connected to its input and output edges. Specific Faraday rotation was 47.4 grad/mm; the field of magnetization was 8 kA/m, the optical loss in EFGF was 0.1 dB/mm. Working capability of the model of the FOS was checked at pulsed magnetization reversal of the film with the frequency 125 kHz. Thus optical switching time was 4 mks. The range of application of FOS are fiber-optic communication systems.
