The school-based 30-cluster survey in children 6-12-y-old of Luhansk Region was conducted. The existence of the iodine deficiency disorders and iron deficient anemia was proved to be the medical and social problem in the region. It was demonstrated that the deficiency of the iodine and iron is the main etiological factor in the genesis of goiter and anemia in children and the effects of pollution are secondary. It was proved that the frequency of goiter and anemia becomes higher by age. The high level of minimal hypothalamic-thyroid dysfunction in children at the region was found out. It was proved that hypothalamic-thyroid dysfunction is closely connected with iron deficiency. The new coefficients for evaluation of the goiter rate and for monitoring of the thyroid volumes under the treatment were created. The high efficiency of the iodine supplementation at the region with mild level of iodine deficiency and grate amount of endocrine disruptors was proved. The conclusion of the necessity of the iron supplementation to improve the efficiency of the iodine treatment of the endemic goiter was made. The regional model of iodine deficiency prevention program was created. The computerized system of the assistance at the decisions' making in medical and social monitoring of children with iodine deficiency disorders was developed.
