The purpose - to determine specific, racial, and strain structure of pathogens of the major diseases of wheat, barley, and resistance genes as well as possibility of their use in breeding for immunity. Results: using introgressions from Ae. cylindrica, Ae. variabilis, T. erebuni, T. dicoccoides, T. tauschii, lines and varieties of winter wheat and barley resistant to mildew, rust, smut, fusariose have been developed. The resistance genes of the above mentioned diseases are not available in the present gene pool of the given crops. Introduction: 4 lines have been included in the Register of Genetic Resources of Plants of Ukraine. The varieties Kniagynia Ol’ga, Lastivka odes’ka and Vykhovanka odes’ka that possess integrated resistance to the major diseases were transferred to the State Variety Trial.
