Goal: to investigate status of iodine provision with usage of iodized salt (IS), facilities of mass iodine prophylaxis and to compare efficiency of the salt with different content of iodine. Research methods: epidemiological, instrumental, biochemical, statistical. Examination included anthropomorphic measurement, ultrasound scanning of the thyroid gland, measurement of the urine’s iodine concentration, determination of the functional status of the thyroid gland. Results: мass examination of the children and women that was held in Kyiv, Chernigivskaya, Dnipropetrovskaya and Lughanskaya regions demonstrated mild iodine insufficiency and in Zakarpatskaya region was revealed worsening of the situation if compare with time of Government program for prophylaxis of the diseases due to iodine insufficiency in 2002 – 2005 and iodine insufficiency of the medium and hard degree. Efficiency of the facilities of mass iodine prophylaxis for achievement optimal iodine consumption was shown in this investigation. Usage of iodized salt enables providing body’s iodine necessities: 73,2% of the pupils who were using this salt had iodine’s urinary excretion over 100 mkg/L.It was established that in situation of mild iodine insufficiency usage of iodized salt with 20mg/kg and 40 mg/kg was equal in efficacy for optimization children group’s iodine provision.Investigations of iodine provision of the pregnant women in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovskaya and Lughanskaya regions revealed iodine insufficiency. It was shown that only usage of the facilities of mass or group iodine prophylaxis cannot provide pregnant woman’s body with enough quantity of iodine. Only simultaneous usage of these prophylactic measurements provide necessary intake of iodine to the body of the pregnant woman. Also attitude of the pregnant women to the problem of the iodine insufficiency was analyzed in the Southeastern region and Dnipropetrovskaya and Lughanskaya regions. On the basis of antenatal clinic and maternity hospital were polled 341 pregnant women. And it was estimated that among polled women in Dnipropetrovskaya region 84,5% were acquainted with the problem of iodine insufficiency and 15,5% didn’t. In Lughanskaya region only 53,2% knew about iodine insufficiency.About usage of iodine salt was disclosed that only 32,5% of pregnant women were consuming it and 3 – 9,6% were receiving individual iodine prophylaxis.
