Vernadsky University popup.description2 The Early Iron Age was the period of complicated ethnical processes in the contact zone of the foothill Crimea with participation of different ethnoi. Studying intertribal interactions is possible mainly by archaeological materials, as written sources are almost completely absent. Ethnical history reconstruction according to archaeological data is a fundamental scholarly problem with many aspects not studied and some even not formulated. New opportunities to solve the said problem are opened by the investigation of the cemetery of Neyzats that is under excavation by the Taurida National University team. The cemetery of Neyzats incorporates 458 studied funeral structures dated from the second to fourth century AD. The grave goods include a great multitude of artifacts that belonged to the Sarmatians and the ancestors of medieval Alans who migrated from the North Caucasus. One dare say that no other Early Iron Age necropolis in Europe has given such a great number of different archaeological materials as Nyzats cemetery did.
