On the basis of the analysis of a current state of scheme solutions for powerful power sources with great initial currents, the plan of a power part is chosen that allows to gain the necessary target performances. Computer modelling is made to display the chosen plan with aim to study the operating modes of a scheme, to calculate its devices and develop an operating algorithm for a digital control system of the power supply. For the first time in Ukraine work is performed on making of a new generation of energy equipment for plasma-spark sintering of the disperse powder composites. The prototype of current source (generator) is made to realize plasma-spark sintering of disperse materials. High working frequency of a voltage transformer (at level 40 kHz) is chosen that has allowed to essentially reduce weight/volume parameters of a power supply as compared to similar generators of the leading world manufacturers. The control system for the prototype is developed which realises base functions of initial current origination on the active load. The prototype has a power of 10 kWt, the net force of superposition of a direct current and an alternating current reaches 1 кА at a voltage to 10 V and a frequency of an alternating current component to 19 kHz.
