Purpose of the work is the development of draft normative documents to state specifica-tions for fire extinguishing systems and their elements in that ozone depleting gaseous fire extinguishing substances are used. Method of the research is analytical one (analyzing of normative and legislative docu-ments to state specifications of the Montreal protocol to the substances that deplete the ozone layer as well as normative documents for the ozone depleting substances). Results and their novelty are that five draft national standards for the designing, installa-tion, testing and maintenance of gaseous fire extinguishing systems using ozone deplet-ing gaseous fire extinguishing substances have been developed. Introduction of the standards is to ensure necessary level of quality at designing, development, and produc-tion of the mentioned systems as well as to allow raising level of fire and technical safety of objects. Proposals for the perfection of the normative base concerning prob-lems of application and phase-out of halons and introduction of ozone safe fire extin-guishing substances and technologies of fire fighting have been developed.
