Bulk samples were cut on the planar plates of different thicknesses for the next investigations. Geometric dimensions of the obtained plates were proved to the standard sizes used in experimental investigations. Samples were polished to the high optical quality for optical spectroscopy measurements. It was done optical characterization of the input part of the samples, determined microhardness and glass transition temperature of the samples by differential scanning calorimetry. Ge-Se composition dependences were studied by high-resolution x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Quantum-mechanical calculations of the simple Ge-Se cluster were performed.
