The main aim of the study is to investigate plasma influence on high-efficiency regimes of gyrotron operation. The research methods consists of theoretical methods of mathematical physics and plasma physics ,and also numerical techniques for solving of ordinary differential equations. The research activity includes two issues. The first one is investigation of plasma influence on electromagnetic properties of gyrotron cavity. We obtain and numerically solve equations for eigenfields of gyrotron cavity filled with plasma. It is determined, that the dependencies of TE and TM mode resonance frequencies on plasma density can reconnect. It is shown, that this effect is accompanied by significant change of transverse field structure and quality factors of TE and TM modes. Such modification of cavity electromagnetic properties due to plasma presence allows to make a supposition about strong competition between these modes, which can make gyrotron operation inefficient. The second issue is investigation of plasma influence on efficiency of beam interaction with TE and TM waves of gyrotron cavity. We obtain a set of equations, which self-consistently describe nonlinear stage of such interaction. It is found, that modification of radiation efficiency of TE and TM waves due to plasma is mainly induced by their frequency variations. It is shown, that such modification of gyrotron efficiency can be compensated by variation of external magnetic field. As this takes place, the high-efficiency regime of TE wave radiation shifts toward higher beam currents. It is found, that this occurs due to plasma induced reduction of force acting on beam electrons. It is found, that such modification of radiation efficiency of TE waves results in increase of gyrotron output power at high beam currents.
