We detected elevated expression of transferrin receptors, transferrin, ferroportin and hepcidin in both resistant cell lines. Development of drug resistance phenotype was accompanied by changes in expression of ferritin heavy chanins and relocalisation of its light chains from cytoplasm into the nuclei of resistant cell lines. Also we found that development of drug resistance phenotype as to cisplatin, as to doxorubicin included hypermethylation on transferrin receptor 1 gene promotor. These data suggest that changes in iron metabolism could be one of the major parts of development of resistance phenotype to antitumor drugs with different mechanism of action.
