Paton Electric Welding Institute popup.description2 The topical problems of welding, cladding and other technologies of treatment of metals, using arc (plasma), laser or laser-plasma combined laser-plasma heating - namely, definition of characteristics of the thermal affecting on workpiece surface of the used heat source - have been solved. The result of these researches is theoretical description of physical processes, which take place in the column of the combined discharge, which arises up at the coaxial association of the focused laser beam with microplasma or plasma stream created on its basis. And also processes which take place in near-surface plasma, on a surface and in the volume of the processed metal taking into account its possible evaporation was been described. A self-congruent mathematical model which allows from single positions to describe an interaction between microplasma arc (direct or indirect action) and the focused laser radiation with a metal at microplasma, laser and combined laser-microplasma welding and powder cladding has been developed. Joint works on development of experimental stands for research of processes of laser-microplasma cladding were been carried out. Ways of improvement of welding arc power sources for the feed of the combined laser-plasma discharge have been educed. Control program of synchronization of operation of mechanisms of moving of plasma nozzle and laser beam, power sources of laser and microplasmatron was been worked out.
