We have identified the model populations of both species for further study and collected the samples of plant material for molecular genetic analysis. An effective method of DNA isolation from fresh and dried plant tissues of studied species were developed. A preliminary screening of different types of PCR markers that span the different functional regions of DNA was carried out and the molecular genetic analysis of intraspecific genetic diversity was initiated using RAPD-markers. Preliminary molecular genetic analysis of two distinct populations of rare species G. lutea and I. pumіla using RAPD-markers indicates a fairly high level of polymorphism within the studied localities of both species.
