The nanoparticles were found to inherit the plate-like morphology of the crystalline precursor (NH4)xLu(OH)y(CO3)z. nH2O wih the dimensions (10x15) mcm2. Crystallization of the precursor of the composition LuOHCO3. nH2O at 800 degrees Celsius resulted in the formation of monodispersed single-crystalline Lu2O3 nanoparticles with a diameter of 25 nm and a specific surface of 25 m2/g.
