Biphosphonates facilitated correction of the negative changes in bone mineral density and restoration of some markers of bone metabolism (alkaline phosphatase and serum calcium) to normal physiological levels without gastrointestinal complications. Obtained data indicate the efficacy of therapeutic interventions, and corresponding shifts of above mentioned biochemical parameters may serve as a favorable prognostic criterion of course of the steroid dependent osteoporosis.
