The total DNA purification method was optimized for maize seed and living plant tissue extractions. Primers to detect presence of spontaneously entered transgenic events registered in the EU were designed and selected. PCR amplification of sequences was carried out to determine the presence or absence of spontaneously entered transgenic events. A transgene detection protocol was composed for commercial corn hybrids. The description of commercial corn hybrids was composed for the presence of GM events registered in the EU.
