Goal of the project - to lay the backgrounds of the comprehensive and consistent study of predaceous and parasitic prostigmatic mitesin Crimea. To clear up the ways and patterns of adaptive evolution of this group and its biocoenotic role; to create the necessary prerequisites for their economic usage and conservation of this possible source of benefitial agents in biocontrol. Methods of research - collecting of mites provided with aid of Tullgren funnels and direct observation of the objects under stereomicroscope. Slide preparation, бbiological and ecological observations follows the methods of I.Z. Livshits. Results and their Scientific novelty, - a comprehensive study of the fauna, morphology and systematics of two large and economically important groups of predaceousmites of the superfamily Raphignathoidea and parasitic mites of the group Heterostigmata were done for the first time in Ukraine. The morphological descriptions, diagnoses and keys of the families, genera and species of mentioned groups are provided. The revision of their taxonomic position is done and on this base were made comprehensive improvments in theit taxonomy. An original data on the biology of different species, their habitats, food chains and economical importans were obtained. The perspectives of their using as biological control agents of biocontrol are evaluated.
