The purpose of the research is to substantiate scientific and methodological approaches to and practical recommendations for the development of the industrial region potential with the aim of attaining European living standards: it includes studying theoretical grounds for the formation of regional policy, validating the structure of the mechanism of regional development, analyzing the development of Dnepropetrovsk region, surveying the living standards of Ukrainian people, assessing the situation with innovative activities in Ukraine and in industrial regions, adapting the mechanism of socioeconomic development of small business to the conditions of market economy and clarifying the essence, concept and structure of the mechanism of stable region development. The methods used involved analysis, synthesis, comparative characteristics, economic statistical methods and administering a questionnaire.
