The aim of the work - creation and study of source material on the basis of new methods in species genetics, raising of new varieties and hybrids of sorghum culture with the complex of valuable morphological and economic features and also their speed-up reproduction and industrial application. Research method - field plot technique, laboratory-field, laboratory, statistical. The research results of 2008-2010 are shown. For the reporting period there were created more than 450 hybrids by the method of forced pollination with further raising from them self-pollinated lines; in breeding nurseries there were studied 3414 samples of grain, soriz, sweet, broom sorghum and Sudanese grass. A part of them was evaluated on the combination ability, CMS reaction and on the complex of economically valuable features. In the nurseries of primary seed growing pre-basis and basis seeds were reproduced; the hybrids of the first generation in different directions were used in the quantity of 21814 kg. On the result of the competitive test to the expertise there were followed 2 species - "Scythian" broom sorghum and "Charodeyka" Sudanese grass; the species of "Pamyati Shepelya" sweet sorghum and "Nash" soriz hybrid were included into the Register of Plant Species available to the distribution in Ukraine.
