Subjective: to create source material of rare vegetable plants for breeding; to create varieties with high parameters of adaptation and complex features for different regions of Ukraine; to work out guidelines for breeding. Methods: field, statistical, calculation. A collection of rare vegetable plants was created and its study was continued. Breeding work with cress, salad mustard, vegetable peas, rocket, parsnip, root chicory, garden fennel, vegetable portulaca, chufa and other rare plants was done. Such varieties were created and passed for qualifying examination to the State service of protection of rights for plant varieties: cress Merezhyvo, salad mustard Popelyushka, vegetable peas Lankovy and Spadok, rocket Znakhar, parsnip Stymul; including root chicory Tsezar in 2010. Total productivity of roots is 60.6 t / ha what for 18.6 t / ha exceeds the standard - the original form of variety Mitado with the weight of one marketable root 432.9 g what is more than the standard for 132.6 g. The newly created variety of root chicory Tsezar by cultivation provided economic efficiency in comparison with the variety Mitado 31 300 UAH / ha. The newly created varieties are recommended for cultivation in all areas of Ukraine in the field and under cover. Areas of use: vegetable growing.
