The purpose of the work - an improving of the quality of steels by alloying and heat treatment. Methods of research - theoretical studies, metallographic, X-ray methods, wear tests, as well as standard testing of mechanical properties. In the first chapter the features of growth of austenite grains under rapid heating in M76 rail steel and the subsequent effect of austenite grain size on the final structure and impact toughness of steel are described. In the second chapter the changing of wear resistance over the cross section of grinding balls with a diameter of 120 mm of steel M74, 75Г2С and 75ХГСМ is examined. In the third chapter the influence of modes of normalization on the structure and mechanical properties of S355 steel for sheets is defined. In the fourth chapter, the influence of temperature and heating duration in the range of Ac1-Ac3 on features of structure and mechanical properties of X70 strips steel is investigated. In the fifth chapter the structure and operational properties of steel P6M5 after body-plasma hardening is investigated, it is shown that this treatment increases the hardness and heat resistance of the tool.
