Objects of research are MoN, MoN-TiN coatings. Experiments have been made to investigate the physico-mechanical characteristics, morphology, crystalline structure and elemental composition of nanocrystalline superhard coatings, depositing with vacuum-arc method. Crystalline structure and morphology of films have been researched with using of microindentation, electronic microscopy, X-ray diffractometry, X-ray spectroscopy. Advanced vacuum-arc plant "BULAT-6" have been used for deposition of nanocrystalline superhard (more than 40 GPa) coatings Mo-N and TiN-MoN. Hardness of coatings have been measured by microindentor "Micron-Gamma". Results of investigation of coating hardness, modulus of elasticity, crystalline structure, the morphology and the phase composition of coatings have been obtained in dependence of deposition conditions.
