The purpose of research is the assessment of braking characteristics and braking efficiency of the tank wagon by means of brake testing at standstill and at running condition. The test results of the brake system characteristics and braking efficiency of the tank wagon, model 6705 for compliance with regulations are presented. The brake system of tank wagon was tested at standstill and in running condition. Brake system characteristics at standstill were determined for composite brake shoes and for cast -iron brake shoes.
