In particular, it was analytically shown how the parameters of critical clusters and clusters which are in stable equilibrium with an surrounding phase are changing, depending on system volume. The results of the analysis of nucleation and growth processes in limited volume are used for the derivation of the kinetic equations for the description of coalescence process (Ostwald ripening). The proposed approach allows to describe all three different stages of a phase transformation in a metastable system with allowance for the effect of depletion: stages of nucleation, independent growth and competitive growth (coalescence).
