The purpose of work is a justification, development, study and approbation of new methods for studying the electrodynamic characteristics of the waveguide transmission lines and resonators of infrared lasers. The presence of the transition region in electromagnetic characteristics of metallic waveguides in infrared range is established. Ifluence on the energy losses and the mode composition of radiation of changing of the misalignment plane of the quasi-optical waveguide resonator relative to the plane of polarization of the exciting radiation is shown. It is established that the quadratic phase aberrations of the resonator mirrors with increase in its Fresnel number in a monotonic decrease of energy losses lower asymmetric modes lead to non-periodic oscillations in their. The method of spatial filtering to extract higher transverse modes with a spatial filter on one of the mirrors of an open generalized confocal resonator is proposed. The possibility of the formation in resonators of far infrared lasers with an aspherical reflector mode with a quasi-uniform distribution field at the output mirror is shown. The research results can be used in the design and construction of transmission lines and infrared lasers in information transfer systems, plasma diagnostics, spectroscopy, and medicine.
