Zea and Narcissus. Intergenic spacer region (IGS) was sequenced for 5S rDNA of 7 species and for 35S rDNA of 3 species. Mechanisms of the molecular evolution of 5S and 35S rDNA were described for plant species of different taxonomic position and geographic origin. Ribosomal DNA polymorphism and rearrangements at structural and functional levels during speciation (especially by hybridisation and polyploidization) were described.
