The aim of the work is a construction and research of physico-mechanical models of surface layers of rough elastic bodies (stochastic and deterministic); determination of adhesive properties of contact of nominally flat surfaces of such bodies; research of boundary integral equations for normal and sliding contacts of the indicated bodies with curved nominal surface; development of numerical methods of solution and research of boundary contact equations. The methods of research are mechanical-mathematical and computer modeling with supplementary research program development for the study of properties of surface layers of rough elastic bodies and properties of contact boundary equations of such bodies. The results are new models of Winkler-Fuss type for the surface layers of rough elastic bodies (with mechanical properties different from volumetric properties of material) which can resist to compressive and tensile (in case of adhesion) stresses; numeral methods for the solution of new nonlinear boundary equations which describe the normal and sliding contact of elastic rough bodies with the curved nominal surface and account of adhesion. The proposed models and research methods will provide the opportunities for development of recommendations for surface treatment technologies, which will provide formation of roughness (surface microgeometry) with necessary structure and controlled adhesion. The research results will serve as a basis for the further work on the next stages: research programs development, planning and implementation of computational experiments, analysis and research of results of such experiments, formulation of the study conclusions.
