Debrynyuk Yuriy, Registration Date 11-01-2012 Organization National Forestry University of Ukraine popup.description2 A practical basis for determining the practical and potential productivity of forest plantations is developed, the of life state of tree species in plantations as unstable man-made ecosystems is studied, the conditions of their high biotic resistance for a limited cycle of operation are defined; plantation resource potential for different types of forest sites is defined. Implementation of research results in practice of forest enterprises will result in significant amounts of wood for any relatively short period of time for industrial and in energy purposes, to reduce the amount of harvested native woodlands, to restore gradually the optimal age structure of forests in certain regions of the country, increase forest cover areas, to substantially increase the deposited carbon stored by fast-growing energy plantations. Studies of the of fast-growing tree species viability (as anthropogenically vulnerable ecosystems) in plantation type stands showed that limited time of their production, along with the rapid wood increment provides a sufficiently high biological resistance. The lowest resistance has a fir, while larch and Douglas-fir typically is slightly damaged slightly damaged by diseases and pests. The species which were investigated accumulate relatively high amounts of stem wood. Thus, the application of appropriate technologies provides the production of such volumes of wood by forest plantations: European spruce - 400-600 m3/ha, European larch - more than 1,000 m3/ha, hybrid larch - 1500 m3/ha. The growing stock of stem wood of the spruce-larch plantation is more than 1400 m3/ha, and for the Douglas-fir plantation it's 1,2-1,7 thousand m3/ha. The resource potential of the plantations have been studied in the different types of forest soil conditions. The potential volumes of wood which can be harvested from plantations forecasted for the near future and for the long-term perspective.
