The real chemical composition of the crystals was found to differ from the stoichiometric composition. There was obtained yttrium oxide nanopowder with17 nm size of the particles. The ceramics Y2O3 and Y2O3:Nd+3 (containing up to 3 mass% of Nd+3) with a density of 99.9% and transparency up to 30% in 400-1000 nm wavelength region, were prepared. The size of the crystallites and residual pores of the ceramics was 20-40 and 1 mcm, respectively.
