The objective of the work is a research of main physical processes of forming and focusing high-current electron and negative ion beams in a plasma-dynamical system of the lens with a positive space charge. The work is a complex research with use of experimental samples of lenses created in IP NASU. Analytical calculation and numerical simulation of plasma-dynamical processes in the cloud as well as beam focusing were used. Experiments on focusing intense electron beams were carried out using standard diagnostics techniques on the experimental stand at High-current Electronics Institute SB RAS. We obtained the beam current density compression by factor 1.8 at the axis and created advanced low-spherical-aberrational plasma lens with a dynamic space charge cloud of free positive ions. Also, we created a new source of negatively charged particle beams. Obtained results can be used in heavy particle accelerator physics, nuclear fusion and modern plasma-beam technologies.
