The main advantage of the scheme is possibility of use of rods with the cross-section area larger than the cross-section area of a billet. So, the rod stability can be increased and the billets with higher ratio of the length to the cross-size can be processed. Besides, the effect of combined severe plastic deformation by hydro-extrusion, angular hydro-extrusion, and torsion under high pressure on the structure and the properties of silumins is investigated. It has been shown that the combined use of these methods at room temperature allows 100% increase of the hardness of hypoeutectic silumin and 45% increase of hardness of hypereutectic silumin as well as elimination of dendrite liquation in the hypoeutectic alloy and size reduction of primary particles.
