The purpose of the work is to determine the physical-and-mechanical properties of the soils and engineer-geological section of the site of the Plant for Nuclear Fuel Production being designed in the urban village of Smolino. Method of the research is comprehensive engineering survey. The Nuclear Fuel Plant being designed is referred to the objects, which pose an enhanced ecological danger according to Appendix E of the state building norms DBN A.2.2-1-2003. It determines responsibility and novelty of the executed work. Basic indexes obtained in the process of the research are physical-and-mechanical properties of the soils which will be in foundation of the designed buildings and actively compressed area of their foundations. These indexes mainly determine general engineering-geological description of the construction area. The site is characterized by development of soils with the special properties - subsiding and swelling ones that determines importance of prognosis of changing the properties of these soils under impact of the designed activity.
