Biosphere reserves (according to the Madrid Plan fo Action) are aimed to harmonize socio-economic and environmental aspects. On this basis, MAB UNESCO Committee of Ukraine establishes a representive system of BR, enchancing their role as an integrated functional areas and research polygons. The tripartite agreement berween the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Belarus, Ukraine and Poland on a TBR "West Polesie" has been signed in 2011 in Kiev. It will help to develop the cross-border system of BR on the borders of Ukraine and neighboring countries, preparation of the appropriate materials for the justification for their selection, organization and international cooperation. Ecological studies have been conducted in the TBR "West Polesie". In particular, the ecological coenotic profile has been laid for environmental monitoring and management activities.
