Purpose of research - providing industry and society with the data that characterize phenomena and processes, which take place in publishing area, condition and trends of book business and mass-media in Ukraine. Research method - working out of administrative data, grouping of quantitative indexes according to their quality features, their analysis, monitoring of obligatory copies of book editions. Ukrainian and foreign printed and electronic mass-media, content analysis, information systematization, character and information orientation of materials. Results - combined administrative data and reports on periodic, continued and non-periodic editions in Ukraine, aggregate data on obligatory copies for 2010; live data and analytical reviews of editions for six months, 9 months and for the period up to December, 2011, book printing prognostication for 2011; analytical reviews: on newspapers and printed magazines in 2010 according to quantity and quality indexes; as for the books in foreign languages and national minorities languages in education and culture areas and in the system of the scientific activity information support, information reference providing of society; functioning condition system of editions obligatory copy in 2010, implementation of Law of Ukraine "On the obligatory copy of documents" by the state publishing houses of the State Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine (2010 - six months of 2011); as a result of mass media monitoring and its influence on forming positive image of the state, actualized mass media database in 2011; annual report on SRR completing. Novelty of scientific study: it was analyzed administrative data of publishing products by the subjects of publishing activity in 2010-2011 according to quantity and quality indexes. The SRR results are intended for the use by the State Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, Government structures of Statistics of Ukraine, other state power authorities to determine the directions of the state policy on publishing business and information area, subjects of publishing business, mass-media organizations.
