Research objective - to study the impact of different environmental factors on the dissemination of the iodine deficiency diseases among the Polissia population. Research methods: hygienic, epidemiological, physical-and-chemical, statistical. Results and their novelty: Examination of the children at the Kyiv specialized boarding schools demonstrated their normal provision with iodine and a high level of iodine deficiency morbidity (28,0 - 77,0 %). It was determined that the school age children in the Brusyliv region, the Zhytomyr oblast was at the state of a light iodine deficiency by the ioduria median (64,22 mkg/l) and struma frequency (14,31 %); study of the iodine content of the drinking water allowed to designate that there was a struma endemia of moderate intensity; content of iodine in the foodstuffs was decreased (by 49,3 - 75,2 %) and a content of selenium in a cow milk ((17,38±4,80) mkg/l) corresponded to the table data; the examinated inhabited localities were characterized by a high level of the contamination of drinking water and foodstuffs with cadmium, periodical increase of the lead and copper MACs and stable one of the nitrates (by 2,48-2,82 times) was observed; analysis of the report data testifies about negative demographic situation in the region; increase of the levels of the respiratory pathologies, neoplasms, digestive organs' diseases, blood circulation system, blood diseases and hematogenetic organs is observed among the children's population. Content of macro-and-microelements in the foodstuffs and food intakes of the population of the Chernigiv and the Kyiv oblasts and the city of Kyiv, children in particular, doesn't satisfy the physiological organism needs in these substances.
