Aim: To determine main features of the development of circulatory diseases and mortality from this pathology among the Chernobyl clean-up workers, evacuees, residents of contaminated areas with regard to age, sex and radiation doses. Methods: epidemiological, medical-and-statistical, modeling. Results. Based on the data of SRU for the period 1988-2009 as well as CER for 1992-2009, there were conducted the cohort epidemiological studies of mechanism of circulatory disease incidence and mortality among the Chernobyl clean-up workers 1986-1987, evacuees and residents of contaminated areas with regard to age, sex, doses and time since exposure; there were developed mathematical models to assess and forecast the dynamics of circulatory diseases in the Chernobyl clean-up workers 1986-1987 and evacuees. Based on the data of SRU, an increase in circulatory incidence within postaccident period was established in cohorts of the Chernobyl clean-up workers 1986-1987 and adult evacuees. The highest rates were registered during 1998-2002. Chronic ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular diseases, diseases of vessels (arteries, arterioles, capillaries, veins, lymph vessels) and hypertension are prevalent in the structure of cardiovascular morbidity. An increase of cardiovascular mortality among the Chernobyl clean-up workers 1986-1987 and adult evacuees was noted. There are differences in the formation of morbidity among clean-up workers of different ages and with various external whole body doses. Age peculiarities of cardiovascular morbidity among residents of contaminated areas were defined using data from SRU. In persons evacuated from estrangement zone in childhood and adolescence, mechanism of the development of cardiovascular pathology depending on sex and evacuation age was identified based on CER data; information on the prevalence of non-radiation risk factors for these diseases was obtained. Based on the cohort epidemiological studies on CER data for 1992-2009, there were specified regular changes in health of male clean-up workers 1986-1987 and female evacuees adult at the time of the accident taking into account age at exposure and doses from external whole body radiation. Mathematical models were used to assess and forecast the dynamics of circulatory diseases. Eye examination in children exposed in utero resulted in fairly high percentage of identified ocular and cardiovascular diseases. There was analyzed the structure of cardiovascular diseases in female clean-up workers with genital diseases.
