Genesis and modern state of the problem of healthpreserv-ing competence (HPC) are researched; the notion of students' motivation to healthy way of life, theoretical ap-proaches to students' HPC formation in the process of Physical Training lessons, components, criteria and levels of students' HPC formation have been analyzed; their psychological characteristics is given; functions and reasons for elements of HPC formation at the Physical Training lessons have been determined. Characteristics of the HPC components of the students of higher educational establishments is provided. The pro-gramme of students' HPC formation in the process of Physical Training lessons has been developed; results of ex-perimental check up of the efficiency of its application have been analyzed.
