Objective: To clarify the prospects and risks of post-crisis development of the economies of Russia and Ukraine caused by the current crisis and general economic dynamics. Methods: Analysis and synthesis, comparison, abstraction and generalization, induction and deduction, the unity of historical and logical, statistical analysis and modeling. Theoretical and practical results: The work performed methodological approach to determining the post-crisis development strategy, which comes from an awareness of the interdependence and the internal contradictions of the global crisis, innovative economic development and modernization of society. It is shown the objective factors of the global financial and economic environment, the basic challenges of post-crisis development of the Ukrainian economy and justified need to reform the system of state regulation (in particular fiscal) and propose concrete measures in this direction. On the basis of the actual dynamics of Russia's it is justified the post-crisis of Russian economic prospects in the context of modernization activities. The effect of the crisis tendencies in the development of the real sector of economy of Ukraine is characterized by manifestations of economic instability in the leading sectors of Ukrainian economy. It is justified the deployment of particular crisis in the financial systems in Russia and Ukraine and the main risks of modern financial markets. The authors characterized the modern labor market model in Russia and Ukraine, highlighted the key risks in the social and labor issues related to macroeconomic instability, and ways to overcome them. It is substantiated the main trends of development of financial and institutional space of the economies of Russia and Ukraine in the context of current global trends of reform, we have proved the necessity of deep reformatting of the financial market of Ukraine and the ways of modernization in the context of the mental development of financial culture, based on the formation of risk awareness and budgetary constraints. The authors made projections regarding the prospects of Ukrainian and Russian economy before 2013 and identified risks and threats, in which the possible worst-case scenario of events.
