Velichenko, Доктор хімічних наук Registration Date 19-01-2012 Organization State higher educational entity "Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology" popup.description2 Object of the investigation - processes in the Red-Ox flow cell with electrolyte based on lead methanesulfonate. The purpose - creation of novel Red-Ox flow cell with electrolyte based on lead methanesulfonate. Methods - steady-state voltammetry, spectroscopy. Laboratory tests prove possibility to make the hardware of this type with high capacity which could be used in the real conditions as reserved energy accumulators. Lead ions accumulation does not influence on reduction of lead dioxide at stirring conditions. It was shown that an additive of fluoride-ions in the electrolyte led to decrease of the charge-transfer rate at low overpotential and to increase the deposition current at high polarization due to growth of migration. Fluoride-ions are incorporated into PbO2 coatings. Its content depends from electrodeposition conditions and electrolyte composition changing in the range from 1.1 to 4.3 atomic %. Charge and discharge processes at the positive electrode can be performed at the same current density in condition of electrolyte flow. In the methanesulfonic electrolytes with fluoride-ions additives cyclic procedure can be performed at charge-discharge current 120/120 mA/cm2 without capacity degradation during 40 cycles. Area of application: DL 31.40.0 battery production; K 73.10.1 research and development natural science; K 73 10.2 research in applied science.
