The object of research - filtering and mathematical interpretation of the data to be observed and measured with errors, the ill-posed inverse problems, including state estimation of the observed systems, parametric and nonparametric identification, that allows not only to interpret the physical state of the systems and their evolution, but to define apriori unknown model parameters as well and in general the very model of the system. Methods of research - the methods of systems analysis, variational methods and methods for solving ill-posed problems, modeling of complex systems, filtration methods and atmospheric correction methods as well as methods of set theory and set-membership approaches. Research results: 1. Method for approximate solution of the interpretation problem with data assimilation into mathematical model on the base of variational principle is developed. 2. The major sources of systematic distortions and errors in the data have been identified and evaluated and main requirements for verification-calibration polygons are formulated. 3. The concept of a "virtual polygon", which is regarded as methodical basis for design of real verification-calibration polygon, as well as the basis for the functional model of verification-calibration polygon. 4. On the base of system analysis the moisture transport problem setting was made and an appropriate model structure of this complex system was obtained. 5. Carried out an analysis and mathematical modeling of hydrological processes of formation of the surface state on the water intake area. 6. Numerical algorithms and the principles of regular rectangular grid for solution of the vertical moisture transport problem in the vadose zone are developed. 7. Thematic remote sensing tasks the most pressing at this time for Ukraine are formulated, for each of them the existing opportunity and way to solve them are defined: the presence of methodological support, the choice of the spacecraft and remote sensing equipment which provide the necessary characteristics of space information allowing to solve the problem are established. 8. An approach to optimal complectation of satellite data needed for solution of thematic problems is developed, that was illustrated by several examples. 9. Carried out the detail analysis of the space segment structure, from which the data are planed to use and to attach to thematic tasks solving. 10. An analytical expression of the efficiency criterion for ERS information product, taking into account its ERS cost and quality are obtained. 11. Using Lyapunov functions the corresponding attitude control algorithms for ERS spacecraft in the class of feedback control are developed. 12. An algorithm for solving control problem on the basis of robust ellipsoidal estimation methods using measurement information from typical board instruments - the accelerometers and angular rate sensors is proposed.
