Concentrations of dissolved methane, as well as the profiles of the rates of sulfate reduction and anaerobic oxidation of methane were determined in the water and bottom sediments at the seep location and in the sites where the seeps were not detected by acoustic investigation. The molecular marker for aerobic methanotrophy was detected by using PCR in the near-bottom water and upper sediment layers of both the seep and the background station.
