Object: to find, develop and refine methods of conservation and restoration of rare books from Library's collections; to improve the physical and chemical properties of paper and preserve the authenticity of documents. Methods of preservation and restoration of documents were improved, contributing to the physical preservation of documentary funds in the process of formation, storage and use. A comprehensive survey of books was made, the experience of leading restoration centers studied in the aim of developing programs for the conservation of rare books library and for a long-term plan of restoration of rare documents. Added recommendations for preventive measures to reduce risk and avoid the devastation caused by significant soakage and humidity. Methods of restoration of the major formats and unique handwritten documents on parchment and paper destroyed by microscopic fungi, their metabolic products and acidity were researched. Ways of processing documents written with liquid ink were studied and architectonic characteristics of rare books. non-destructive paper bleaching methods were investigated. The method of old globes restoration was implemented for conservation of eighteenth century sky globe.
