The crystal structures of 53 new compounds belonging to 14 structural types were imvestigated. Between then the 5 new types of structures were charakterized: R15B4C14 (R = Y, Gd-Lu) (ST Tb15B4C14, PG P4/mnc). R25B14C26 (R = Pr, Nd) (Pr25B14C26, P21 / c), Nd2BC (Nd2BC, C2 / m), Nd25B12C28 (Nd25B12C28, P), DyB2C (DyB2C, Pbam). Firstly synthesized nearly 100 new hydrides, studied the condition of their receipt (pressure, temperature, pre-activation), kinetics of absorption-desorption of hydrogen, crystal structure, magnetic properties and found the optimal ratio of components for the synthesis of alloys with sufficient capacity hydrogensorption. The interrelation between the crystal structure and magnetic properties for the investigated intermetallics and their hydrides was . Obtained new alloys YCo2-xVx (x = 0,1 and 0,2) with improved magnetic characteristics. A new cast alloy La0, 5Ce0, 5Ni4Co, having reduced hysteresis in comparison with alloys LaNi5 and CeNi5 that significantly reduces energy costs for charging hydrogen. We describe the mechanisms of structural transformations in the compound caused by hydrogen interaction.
